Siemens Brand History

Siemens today is represented by a huge amount of equipment, electronics, power equipment, medical equipment and not only. Until recently, the phones of this brand were incredibly popular all over the world. But even without mobile products Siemens AG has, than to impress its fans.

It is difficult to imagine, but the company Siemens was established more than 150 years ago. In 1847, the German engineer and scientist Werner Siemens opened the Telegraphen-Bauanstalt Siemens & Halske company, which was engaged in electro-telegraphy and the creation of electromedical devices.

Much moral and financial support to the inventor was his family. For example, Werner's cousin Johann Georg Siemens took over the costs of hiring a room, acquiring the necessary tools and paying salaries to employees. All that was required of a young scientist is to devote himself entirely to work. And with his task, he coped well.

The first achievement of Telegraphen-Bauanstalt Siemens & Halske was the telegraph line connecting Berlin and Frankfurt am Main. Later, the telegraph also united Berlin with Cologne, Hamburg, Breslau and Stettin. It took only a couple of years, and the Siemens company went far beyond Germany. The construction of a telegraph line connecting the Netherlands and Belgium began.

In 1849, Wilhelm Siemens, Werner's brother, founded the firm's division in London, giving it the name Siemens Brothers. Immediately after that, the company received a number of large orders from Russia. The Russian telegraph network stretched from Finland to the Crimea and covered a distance of over 10,000 km. Russia followed Sweden, followed by the Ottoman Empire.

In 1862, Siemens & Halske built an underwater line that connected Spain and Algeria. In 1870 the construction of the Indo-European Telegraph Line was completed, and in 1872 - the telegraph line between the southern and northern coasts of Australia. 1875 marked the laying of a sea cable cable between Rio de Janeiro and Montevideo.

It took only 30 years for the Siemens brothers to cover the whole world with telegraph lines. But this was not the only thing. So, with the participation of Siemens & Halske, a high-speed locomotive was created, developing a speed of up to 210 km / h, which for the beginning of the twentieth century seemed fantastic. The company also took part in the construction of the cable-laying cable "Faraday", which has built more than 80,000 km of cables for its entire existence, and later engaged in equipping various vessels with its electrical equipment.

The Siemens Mobile division, through which most of us and heard so much about Siemens, was founded in the mid-1990s. At the same time, the first mobile phone, Siemens C1, was also released.

Three years after he created the world's first phone with a color screen, and two years later the world's first slider - Siemens SL10. In 2000, the light goes Siemens SL45 - a phone with an MP3 player and support for memory cards.

Despite quite successful developments in the field of mobile technology, in 2005 Siemens AG decides to sell the Siemens Mobile division of BenQ. For a while after that, the phones they produced were called BenQ-Siemens, and then BenQ. To date, their production has been discontinued.

Thus, the company Siemens AG decided not to be scattered on trifles, but to do what it does best: energy, medicine and heavy industry. Although periodically the concern still breaks down and produces some household goods, but the refrigerators, cooking surfaces and washing machines of Siemens every day are on sale less and less, the main attention of the company is paid to solving more global issues.
